“…Democrat Jaime Harrison has mounted a strong campaign with stellar fundraising.”
Columbia, S.C. — Politico yesterday shifted their rating of the South Carolina Senate towards Jaime Harrison — a clear sign of his grassroots movement’s momentum and strength heading into the final two months of the campaign. Politico changed their rating of the race from “Likely Republican” to “Lean Republican” — just one shift away from “Toss Up”.
Politico’s explanation can be found HERE.
“Jaime Harrison’s grassroots movement to restore hope to South Carolina’s is gaining momentum as we approach November,” campaign spokesman Guy King said. “South Carolinians are tired of Lindsey Graham who, as the coronavirus has revealed, is more interested in his personal and political fortunes than improving the lives of his constituents. Every day, the people of the Palmetto State are turning to Jaime Harrison, a leader who will stand by his principles and represent our state’s values in the United States Senate.”
The rating change comes after another record-breaking fundraising quarter and an incredible fundraising month in August, as well as polling from Quinnipiac University showing a tied race between Harrison and Graham. Cook Political Report shifted their ratings toward Harrison for the second time this year on August 17, and Real Clear Politics rated this race a “Toss Up” on August 7.
In their explanation, Politico wrote that “…Democrat Jaime Harrison has mounted a strong campaign with stellar fundraising.”
