Columbia, S.C. — Today, Jaime Harrison’s campaign for U.S. Senate released a poll today by veteran pollster Cornell Belcher which shows Jaime Harrison in a statistical tie with Sen. Lindsey Graham in the race for South Carolina’s U.S. Senate seat.
According to the poll, which was performed by Belcher’s firm brilliant corners Research and Strategy:
- Only a third of likely voters in South Carolina think Graham deserves to be re-elected. In contrast, a broad 59 percent majority believe it is time for someone new.
- Graham’s job approval is underwater by 8 points as a majority (51 percent) of voters disapprove of the job Senator Graham is doing.
- Strong headwinds are working against the incumbent Graham as the vast majority (66 percent) of voters in South Carolina are now dissatisfied with the direction of the country.
“The polling paints a clear picture: This is a close and competitive race,” President of brilliant corners Research and Strategies Cornell Belcher said. “A majority of voters don’t think Lindsey Graham deserves to be re-elected, and the more they learn about Jaime Harrison, the more they support him.”
“This grassroots movement has been gaining momentum ever since Jaime entered the race last year,” campaign spokesperson Guy King said. “South Carolina voters across the political spectrum see that Lindsey Graham is a shell of his former self. As he continues to play political games in Wasington, Jaime Harrison is continuing to fight to restore hope in our state, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic wreaks havoc on the health, safety and economic security of South Carolina families.”
The poll was conducted by brilliant corners Research and Strategies from July 13-19, 2020, and surveyed 800 likely voters.
